Even as we hunker down into the gloomy, austere clouds enveloping the nation right now, The Evening Standard ran an interesting story the other day about SABMiller successfully marketing Peroni lager as a premium brand in the UK.
As a result the brewing giant allows its bar outlets to charge £4.20 a pint and reports a stellar 29% increase in sales this year.
Given how the world seems to be desperately scrabbling around down the back of the sofa for any loose change it can find at the moment, you would think it wouldn't be too hard to give money away in these times of financial uncertainty.
And yet there are billions in unclaimed assets sloshing around the financial system, just waiting to be restored to their rightful owners. Musicians complain about how little they make, and how the cost of file-sharing is robbing them of their livelihoods, while royalties pile up from digital streaming and go ignored.
